An electric vehicle is propelled through electric motors powered by batteries or any other storage device. With much lesser number of moving parts as compared to conventional internal combustion engines, EV has a higher service life, lower maintenance requirement, and lower life-cycle costs. In addition, EVs have zero emissions and very low noise resulting into reduction in air and noise pollution.
The Government of India has envisaged that by 2030, only electric vehicles (both personal and commercial) shall be produced and sold in the country. This shall help also India in reducing the dependence on crude oil imports as well as for achieving a sustainable environment with lesser CO2 emissions.
